Gentle postpartum
support for mothers
in the Adelaide Hills

Nurtured Mother offers calm and practical support within your own home during the early weeks after birth.
This is care designed to help mothers feel more rested, nourished and supported through one of life’s most tender transitions.
a gentle beginning
Nurtured Mother offers thoughtful, mother-centred care during the early postpartum period
— a warm and reassuring presence in your home while you recover and adjust to life with your baby.
Care extends beyond what needs to be done around you. It is also found in moments of warmth and comfort that help you feel restored, noticed and nurtured.
There is no fixed routine to follow. Each visit responds to the day in front of you, with care given to what will make home feel more manageable and help you feel more looked after.
It is care designed around the mother — not just what needs to be done, but how she is doing within it all.
what support may
look like
A warm meal and nurturing drink prepared for you.
A herbal foot soak or bath prepared with care.
A gentle massage offered for comfort and relaxation.
The kitchen freshened while you feed, rest or settle your baby.
Washing put on, folded or quietly cleared away.
A few groceries collected, fresh linen placed on the bed, bottles washed, or other everyday needs around the home quietly taken care of.
Time to sleep, shower, eat something properly or enjoy a little quiet while someone else takes care of the day around you.
Sometimes the smallest acts of care can help a mother feel like herself again.
meet josephine

Nurtured Mother grew from a simple understanding—that while so much care surrounds a new baby, mothers need tending to as well.
I’m Josephine, the woman behind Nurtured Mother. I have always been drawn to the quieter parts of caring for people—the warmth, attentiveness and small comforts that help someone feel genuinely looked after.
Becoming a mother deepened that understanding. I know how quickly the needs of the day can take over, while the mother herself can slip quietly to the bottom of the list.
When I visit, there is no need to tidy, entertain me or plan the day. I’m very happy to walk into real life—washing on the chair, dishes in the sink, an unsettled baby and a mother who has not had a chance to eat.
I’m there to notice what would bring you comfort, get on with what needs doing and take some of the weight from your day.
That, to me, is the heart of Nurtured Mother.

is this support right for you?
You might simply want your first weeks at home to feel a little less demanding.
Perhaps you want more space to rest, someone to help take care of the day around you, or the reassurance of knowing there will be another pair of hands nearby when the days feel full.
Care can be part of the plan, not something saved only for when things become overwhelming.
Nurtured Mother is for the woman who wants those early weeks to hold a little more ease, nourishment and breathing room.
a steady presence
There is something reassuring about not having to explain everything from the beginning each time.
As I get to know you, your home and the rhythm of your days, I can arrive with a better sense of where to begin and what might be helpful.
You can feed your baby, stay in your pyjamas, disappear for a shower or carry on with your day while I quietly take care of whatever would be most helpful.
Over time, that familiarity can make having help in the home feel easy rather than like another thing to manage.
ways we can work together
whether you would benefit from a single visit, regular support, or something more tailored to your family’s needs, we can create a rhythm of care that feels right for you.
The packages below offer a gentle starting point and can be adapted to suit what you need.
my signature offering
The First Forty Days is the fullest expression of Nurtured Mother, created with an understanding that birth asks something profound of a woman—not only of her body, but of her whole inner world. In a season so often measured by feeds, sleep and the needs of a new baby, this offering gently turns attention back towards you.
This time is set aside from the beginning, creating a softer passage through the weeks after birth, with warmth, nourishment and devoted care woven throughout.
There is something warm to eat, something nourishing to drink, and someone quietly thinking about what might make you feel more comfortable. Comfort is woven quietly through the day—perhaps a herbal bath or foot soak, fresh linen, gentle nurturing touch, or simply noticing what would help you feel more settled before you have to ask.
You can feed your baby, sleep, shower, lie down or simply withdraw for a while, knowing the day around you is still being held.
Across these weeks, the care becomes familiar. I come to know the things that soothe you, the foods you enjoy, how your home flows and what helps you soften a little more each time I arrive.
It is not about hurrying your recovery or expecting you to return quickly to ordinary life. It is an invitation to live more slowly for a while, to honour all that your body and heart have moved through, and to allow yourself to receive care without first having to reach the end of your reserves.
Above all, it is a way of ensuring that as a new life is welcomed and cherished, you remain seen, nourished and cared for within it.

your visits
Each visit is shaped around what would care for you best that day. Sometimes that may mean nourishment and rest, sometimes gentle comfort and nurturing touch, and sometimes simply having the day around you quietly held so there is less for you to carry.
as the weeks change
what you need may change too, and care can respond to that naturally.
A little more care for you
